CARA B Naturally Review
I have been interested in trying natural hair and skin care products with my daughter for a while. It’s not something that I’ve really invested in previously, but I’ve heard so many great things and somehow, none of the popular hair and skin care products seem to measure up. They leave her skin dry and itchy and her hair is less than silky. Often times, what winds up happening is a combonation of not-so-tear-free bath times (despite companies’ claims) and an eczema outbreak.
When I heard about CARA B Naturally products, I figured this would be a great opportunity to try something new. The products are all-natural, chemical-free and made specifically with brown babies in mind.
Upon receiving the CARA B Naturally gift basket, I was delighted with the special care taken in packaging their products and my daughter appreciated it too. :) She helped me unwrap her ‘present’ and we were delighted to find that the fragrance of CARA B Naturally products is very similar to a common scent in our home…horchata. Horchata, a rice ‘milk’ drink, is a staple at our house and it was fun to use a product for my daughter that exemplifies our love for it.
CARA B Naturally sells five essential products; a combination shampoo/body wash, baby bar soap, leave in conditioner/daily moisturizer, moisturizing hair mist and body lotion.
Cara B Naturally’s shampoo has a light, clean smell that is a relaxing change from the typical strongly fragranced shampoos that are so often marketed for children. There is no chemical smell since the products are all-natural and I’m pleased to report that this shampoo is actually as tear-free as it claims. I can tell you, my daughter really appreciated this. Most importantly though, I love that this product didn’t dry out her little curls or leave her with an itchy scalp. It’s been quite a long time since we could use a scented product and enjoy the fun of smelling her soft sweet curls after bath time.
Baby Bar Soap
One of my favorite products is the soft, silky baby soap from CARA B Naturally. This soap goes on super smooth and again, doesn’t dry out her delicate skin. For me, this has been a constant struggle, since most soaps strip away the essential oils that keep her eczema at bay. It seems needless to use harsh chemical soaps, especially on infants and children who rarely warrant that thorough a cleaning. This soap keeps her skin fresh and soft instead of drying it out and promoting further episodes of dry skin. This is also one that I had to snatch back from the hubby, who now adores this soap. He was very impressed that an all-natural product could work so well for him, since he works in the automotive field. Regardless, he still loves to pamper himself, so he couldn’t help but take these products for a little test drive. ;)
Leave-in Conditioner/Daily Moisturizer
This is a great product for adding moisture and style to hair after bath time. I gently towel dry my daughter’s hair and use a small amount of the conditioner smoothed between my hands to work the product into her hair, paying special attention to the ends of her curls and the roots near her scalp. The amount used depends on hair type and texture, so be sure to start off with small amounts. One of the best things about this product is that it has some hold to it too, which means that I can give my daughter a more defined style sans harsh styling products. This product gives definition and hold without the stiff feel that many other products produce and again…for this fact, it has become a favorite of my hubby, who has no shame in using CARA B Naturally products. I was sorry to break the news, that no…there isn’t an adult product line.
The hair mist is very similar to the leave-in condition product, but it’s much lighter and can be applied more throughout the day. This is an excellent detangler and is great for a quick moisturizing session or to fix up and redo styles. I use this in the mornings to take care of my daughter’s bed head, before special events and just for fun when we want to do a pretty style during play time. The refreshing scent adds that hint of ‘princess’ quality to a game of dress up. It’s also great for holding styles, softly and securely. Flyaways can be difficult when styling curly hair and I love that this product gives me some control without making her hair feel hard and unnatural.
CARA B Naturally’s body lotion goes on just as smooth and silky as the rest of the product line and has the same soothing smell. I love putting this on mi’jita right before bed and taking full advantage of the calming scent. I also love that the product is non-oily and quick drying. It absorbs well and leaves her skin feeling soft and replenished. Because CARA B Naturally uses chemical-free and allergen-free ingredients, I didn’t have to worry about this product irritating her skin. This lotion is gentle enough that it can be used for children with eczema, although I would avoid it and any other products with fragrance during flare ups, as skin is super sensitive at those times.
