Fans who watched the Super Bowl this past Sunday were in for a shock, a highly racist ad campaign from what seems like a very desperate political candidate, Pete Hoekstra. Hoekstra, who stands by his anti-Chinese campaign, maintains that “It’s not a stereotype at all,” he told Fox News. “This is a young woman in China who is speaking English. That’s quite an achievement.”
“There’s nothing in here that has a racial tint at all,” he continues in the story on Fox News. “But the bottom line is, when Debbie Stabenow and them can’t defend their record, what they’ll typically move to is the race card.”
His words are astounding and one would wonder about what’s going on in Michigan, if someone running for a seat in the senate could be this far off base. This campaign oozes anti-Chinese sentiment, an obvious scare tactic that only the sleaziest politician would use.
