My Dream Speaks Benefit Recap
On April 18th, Global Language Project (GLP) spread the crucial need for language education in schools with a celebration of global culture through music, food, art, and fashion.
Host and CNN Anchor Zoraida Sambolin and GLP Founder Angela Jackson educated guests about the foundation’s exemplary programs in New York’s most impoverished schools with performances a by world music sensation Les Nubians, inventive dishes by Roble Ali of Bravo’s Roble &Co, and a collaborative runway show by celebrity stylist Kithe Brewster and Somalian twins design team of Mataano (who debuted on Oprah). GLP announced the launch of New York’s FIRST Arabic language program in elementary schools with the help of Qatar Foundation International by honoring QFI Director Maggie Mitchell Salem, a former Special Assistant to Secretary of State Madeline Albright.
The evening also featured the premiere performance of international music by Luz, A Rapper Name Dame, & Papi Shank, cutting edge styles from celebrity stylist Nelson Vercher, and a beauty bar as well as goodies from Iman Cosmetics.
